Pakistan’s Minister Stresses for Enhancing Business Ties with US

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin-ul-Haque stressed the need for enhancing Pakistan-United States trade relations and mutual cooperation in the various fields of mutual interest.                     

While talking to the US ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome on Wednesday, the minister said that business relations would prove beneficial for both countries.

According to a press release issued here, Syed Amin Ul Haque informed the US ambassador that Pakistan’s Information Technology and telecom sector had vast opportunities for American companies to invest.

The Minister discussed various issues including bilateral relations, IT, and the telecom with the ambassador.

He further said that his ministry was ready to extend all kinds of cooperation and support to the United States on matters related to the telecom sector.

The minister informed the ambassador that over 70 projects worth about Rs 65 billion for broadband services were finalized in Pakistan to provide quality services to masses in remote areas.

The minister said that the personal data protection bill and that of social media rules were business-friendly and in accordance with the national requirements and the bills would be forwarded to the relevant forums for approval in a couple of weeks.

Enhancing Pak, US business Ties

During the meeting, both dignitaries agreed to start a program for skills training.

The US ambassador Donald Blome said that a joint strategy in the telecom sector would enhance bilateral cooperation.

The ambassador noted that Pakistan had a lot of talent and a conducive environment for investment and efforts were underway to convince companies in the US to invest in Pakistan.
