Pakistan’s Mobile Phone Imports Increase Nearly 120% in First Half of FY24

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan imported mobile phones worth 792.612 million dollars during the first half (July-December) of the current fiscal year 2023-24, registering an increase of 118.45% when compared to 362.841 million dollars during the corresponding period of last year.

Pakistan’s mobile phone imports increased by 20.16% on a Month-on-Month (MoM) basis in December 2023 and stood at 176.093 million dollars compared to imports of 146.549 million dollars in November 2023, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Monday.

Pakistan’s Exports Witness Increase

Moreover, Pakistan’s exports in the rupee term witnessed an increase of 35.33% during the first half of the current fiscal year as compared to the same period of last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported on Monday.

Exports during July-December (2023-24) were registered at 4,300,752 million rupees as against 3,177,893 million rupees during the same period of last year, showing an increase of 35.33%, according to the provisional data released by PBS.

On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the exports during December 2023 surged by 54.59% and were recorded at 799,588 million rupees compared to the exports of 517,240 million rupees in October 2022.

On a month-on-month (YoY) basis, the exports went up by 8.86% when compared to the exports of 734,541 million rupees in November 2023.
