ISLAMABAD: In a progressive move to support women’s rights, female staff of Pakistan’s National Assembly (NA) have been granted the privilege to leave for their homes before sunset on days when Assembly sessions extend into the night.

After this significant permission was granted, NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasised that safeguarding women’s rights is a shared obligation for all.

He underlined the urgent need to take necessary measures to harmonise women’s professional ambitions with their domestic roles.

Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Dr. Shahida Rehmani, who is also the secretary-general of the Women Parliamentary Caucus, lauded the initiative, affirming that parliament is dedicated to advancing women’s rights and that the decision would enable women to better navigate their work and family commitments.
