Pakistan’s Naval Chief Attends Global Seapower Symposium in US

NEWPORT: Pakistan’s Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi has participated in 25th International Seapower Symposium-2023 (ISS-25) held at US Naval War College Newport, Rhode Island, a Pakistan Navy press release said on Friday.

Common maritime challenges discussed

During the event panel discussions were held on common maritime challenges and opportunities to boost international maritime security cooperation.

A large number of heads of World Navies or senior representatives attended ISS-25. During the event Pakistani Naval Chief held bilateral meetings with senior International Naval dignitaries.

He held meetings with Chief of Staff Spanish Navy, Naval Chiefs of Azerbaijan, Egypt, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Secretary of the US Navy (SECNAV) and Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) of US Navy.

Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi briefed the participants of the symposium on Maritime Perspective of Pakistan with special focus on the Navy contributions to regional maritime security.

He highlighted the challenges to Indian Ocean security and mentioned Pakistan Navy’s initiative of Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP). The initiative is aimed to share international obligations for safe and secure maritime environment in the region.

The aim of International Seapower Symposium was to give a forum to senior naval leaders to discuss common maritime challenges and opportunities to strengthen global maritime security cooperation.

Discussions at ISS would further enhance the efforts to boost cooperation in countering piracy, providing disaster relief and humanitarian assistance, coordinating search and rescue at sea.

The participation of the Pakistan Naval Chief in 25th International Seapower Symposium-2023 demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment for regional peace.
