ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali has earned a spot on the ICC Men’s Player of the Month nomination list following his remarkable performance in the recent Test series against England.
Noman’s bowling skill was instrumental in Pakistan’s comeback in the series, as he claimed 20 wickets in the second and third Tests, with an impressive average of 13.85.
The 37-year-old spinner delivered two game-changing spells, securing match figures of 11/147 and 9/130 to help Pakistan bounce back after their defeat in the first Test match.
His standout performance in the second Test came as he guided Pakistan to victory with a record-breaking 8/46, as they defended a 297-run target and marked their first home Test win since 2021. Noman’s spell turned the tide for Pakistan, helping end a three-year drought for a Test series victory on home soil.
In the series decider in Rawalpindi, Noman continued to shine. Coming to bat with Pakistan struggling at 177/7, he provided a crucial 45-run knock, pushing the team to a vital 77-run lead in the first innings.
He followed his batting heroics with a six-wicket haul, dismantling England’s lineup and restricting them to just 112, securing a nine-wicket win for Pakistan.
Noman’s stellar performance has garnered him a nomination alongside South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner for the prestigious ICC Player of the Month award.
