GARHI KHUDA BAKHSH: Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Friday said that international powers were attempting to undermine  Pakistan’s nuclear programme under the pretext of supporting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

He was addressing a public gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on the 17th death anniversary of former two-time Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Commenting on US President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming aide, Richard Grenell’s statement on Imran Khan’s release, he said that PTI Founder is just an excuse, while  Pakistan’s nuclear programme is the real target.

He went on to say the country’s nuclear and missile programmes are under threat and alleged that certain elements are working to damage Pakistan’s interests.

“Those who had been issuing statements against Pakistan’s nuclear programme are now raising their voices for Imran Khan’s release,” Bilawal said, asking the PTI founder to clarify his position about these statements.

“We have to get united to deal with the conspiracy being hatched against us. We have to think about  Pakistan and its defence while keeping aside politics,” the PPP chief said.

Bilawal said it seemed a certain lobby wanted a regime change and install a government in Pakistan that was ready to make a deal on anything including the nuclear programme.

The PPP chairman vowed that his party would never allow any conspiracy against Pakistan’s interests to succeed. He promised to resist any attempts to compromise the country’s sovereignty and security.

Bilawal paying tribute to his mother, highlighted her 30-year political struggle, which has become an integral part of history. He said that Benazir never compromised on her ideology and was a champion of the vulnerable segments of society.

“Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was not just a political figure but a beacon of hope for the marginalized, the oppressed, and the forgotten. Her unwavering commitment to her father’s vision of an egalitarian and prosperous Pakistan remains an inspiration for all of us,” he noted.

The PPP Chairman also reiterated his commitment to addressing international issues, including the unresolved matters of Palestine and Kashmir.

Thousands of party workers and leaders converged at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh – Benazir’s resting place in the southern province of Sindh – to observe her death anniversary.
