ISLAMABAD: Pakistani’s former President and leader of the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Arif Alvi met with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and discussed the proposed constitutional amendments.

Accompanied by the PTI’s secretary general Salman Akram Raja, the former president praised Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s stance on the constitutional package, emphasizing its significance for democracy.

The PTI leaders praised Rehman’s stance on the constitutional package, emphasizing its significance for democracy. Alvi noted that passing the amendment in the National Assembly requires a robust debate and criticized the government’s recent attempt to push through the bill without sufficient discussion.

Rehman’s political influence has notably increased, as both the treasury and opposition parties seek his support.

It is pertinent to mention here that jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party strongly opposed the government’s proposed constitutional amendments calling it an “attack on democracy.”
