ISLAMABAD: Outgoing President Dr. Arif Alvi on Saturday expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Pakistan as he bid farewell to his presidential tenure.

In his last post on social media platform X as President, Dr. Alvi humbly sought forgiveness for any shortcomings he may have had and hoped for a divine reward for his endeavors. His remarks come as Asif Ali Zardari, Co-Chairman of the PPP, emerged victorious in the presidential election, securing the position for a historic second term. Zardari’s election marks a significant milestone, making him the only civilian president to achieve this feat.

Dr. Arif Alvi, a founding member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) since its inception in 1996, assumed office as the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on September 9, 2018. With a longstanding commitment to public service, he has held various positions within the PTI, including President of Sindh (1997-2001), Central Vice President (2001-2006), and Secretary General (2006-2013).

Having won a National Assembly seat from Karachi in 2013 and retaining it in the subsequent 2018 general election, Dr. Arif Alvi’s political journey has been marked by a dedication to his constituents and the nation at large.
