ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for Planning Development & Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal said on Tuesday that sustained progress hinges on policy continuity, political stability, and national peace.

Speaking to a private news channel, he underscored these as fundamental prerequisites for Pakistan’s advancement.

Responding to a question, Iqbal said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) saw rapid progress from 2013 to 2018, lamenting that subsequent changes in government slowed developments in Gwadar and Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

He highlighted renewed efforts by the current administration to revitalize these projects.

Highlighting the upcoming second phase of CPEC, Iqbal outlined its focus on five key corridors: Growth, Livelihood, Innovation, Green, and Open. These corridors, he explained, aim to promote regional cooperation and comprehensive development.

Addressing recent security challenges, Iqbal condemned terrorist attacks aimed at disrupting national development and business activities. He reassured full security measures for ongoing projects in Pakistan.

Emphasizing the critical link between economic progress and improving law and order, Iqbal called for collaborative efforts among all stakeholders to enhance security across the country.
