ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Special Assistant on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, participated in a virtual meeting with cross-party British Parliamentarians, convened by Member of Parliament and Chairperson of APPG on Jammu & Kashmir, Debbie Abrahams.

The meeting discussed the human rights situation in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), with participation from British Parliamentarians, civil society members, and human rights organizations.

During the meeting, Mushaal Mullick provided insights into human rights abuses perpetrated by the Indian government in the occupied valley. She specifically highlighted the grave violations against women and children in IIOJK.

The special assistant called for international attention to the treatment of minorities, particularly pointing out forced conversions of Christian and other minorities under the RSS ideology within India.

Expressing deep concerns, Mushaal emphasized the attempts to alter the demographics of IIOJK and urged the international community to address longstanding Kashmir issues in alignment with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the local population. She appealed to the world to uphold international human rights obligations and implement relevant UN Security Council Resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir.

Strongly urging British Parliamentarians to play a more active role, Mushaal called for intervention to halt human rights violations and repeal draconian laws, including demographic engineering in IIOJK.

She shared that her husband, Yasin Malik, Chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), was a political prisoner in Tihar Jail in India for years, expressing serious concern for his health and well-being.

Mushaal raised reservations about Yasin Malik potentially facing a death sentence, scheduled for appeal early next month, and appealed to UK Parliamentarians to voice their concerns over this perceived injustice.
