Pakistan’s PM and Canadian High Commissioner Discuss Bilateral Relations

ISLAMABAD: Canadian High Commissioner Leslie Scanlon on Monday called on Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar at the PM House and discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister and the High Commissioner discussed different aspects of Pakistan-Canada bilateral ties, including Canada’s development programmes in Pakistan, humanitarian support after the 2022 floods, economic and trade relations, as well as Canadian investments in Pakistan, especially the Reko Diq Project.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of strong relations between Pakistan and Canada.

He highlighted the measures being undertaken by the government in priority areas, especially for the stabilization of the economy, facilitation of foreign investment through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), and repatriation of illegal immigrants.

High Commissioner appreciates Pakistan’s support

The Canadian envoy commended the support extended by the government of Pakistan to Canada’s Afghan Relocation Programme.
