Pakistan’s PM Assures Uninterrupted Power Supply for Karachi

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar announced on Monday that the government, in collaboration with K-Electric, is committed to ensuring an uninterrupted power supply for Karachi to meet its demands.

During a meeting with a delegation from K-Electric, led by CEO Moonis Abdullah Alvi, the prime minister directed the Ministry of Energy to address the challenges facing the company through mutual consultation.

He emphasized the need to formulate policies that take into account the purchasing power of electricity consumers and prioritize their welfare.

The delegation thanked the prime minister for resolving long-standing issues faced by K-Electric. They also thanked him for approving a Rs 390 billion investment plan for the company, tariffs for 640 megawatts of renewable energy projects, and the provision of an additional 1000 MW of electricity.

The delegation viewed these government initiatives as sending a positive message to investors. During the meeting, the prime minister received a briefing on various matters related to K-Electric.

The delegation included K-Electric Chief Finance Officer Muhammad Aamir Ghaziani and Regulatory Officer Imran Qureshi. Caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali, Chairman of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority Wasim Mukhtar, CEO of Central Power Purchasing Agency Rehan Akhtar, and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
