Pakistan’s PM Directs NDMA to Protect Lives Amid Monsoon Rains

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to take all necessary measures to protect lives and properties in view of the monsoon rains.

Talking to NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik over the phone, the Prime Minister also advised to conduct an estimate of the losses of lives and properties.

The Prime Minister asked Chairman NDMA to improve coordination with provincial disaster management departments, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Besides, PM Shehbaz Sharif instructed to expedite measures for the restoration of highways and roads affected by rains and land sliding. 

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also called for providing all possible health facilities to the people of affected areas. The Prime Minister instructed to ensure the provision of relief goods, including medicines and other essential items, to the rains’ affected areas.

PM Shehbaz Sharif also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the deaths that resulted due to floods and rains.
