Pakistan’s PM Discusses Economic, Political Situation with Veteran Politicians

LAHORE: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday held meetings with veteran politicians, including Co-Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and discussed the overall economic and political situation in the country.

During his meeting with Zardari, both leaders agreed that no one would be allowed to cause political instability in the country. Both leaders decided to take strict action against those who were conspiring to push Pakistan toward economic default.

Both leaders consulted on matters related to relief to the public and increasing economic activities in the country.

The former president appreciated the efforts of prime minister Shehbaz Sharif to reduce the prices of petroleum products in the country.

The leaders agreed to enhance relief activities for the rehabilitation of flood affectees and to save them from the harsh winter.

PM apprises Zardari, Shujaat of political situation

During his meeting with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif apprised the PML-Q president of the country’s political and economic situation. They also discussed various strategies to counter the PTI’s plan. They agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation further to steer the country out of the current crisis.

They reaffirmed their commitment that the coalition government would continue moving forward for economic development and political stability.

Talking to journalists, PML-N leader Attaullah Tarar said that Punjab’s political situation was discussed during the meeting between the prime minister and Asif Ali Zardari.

He added that the meeting discussed all the constitutional options, including the vote of confidence. The PML-N leader said a final decision would be made during his party’s meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

It is worth mentioning here that PTI chief Imran Khan, on Saturday, announced the dissolving of the provincial assemblies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab on December 23.

Hussain lauded the premier’s efforts to restore the economy and provide relief to the masses, read the declaration. It added that he appreciated the premier for steering the country and the people from the challenges.
