Pakistan’s PM for Collective Efforts to Boost National Prosperity

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday emphasized the pivotal role of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in bolstering the nation’s economy.

Chairing a meeting on FBR-related matters, Shehbaz Sharif underscored the need for collective efforts to drive national development and prosperity.

During the meeting, he instructed the hiring of top legal experts to pursue pending cases in courts and tribunals on behalf of the board.

He also called for the establishment of Customs Appellate Tribunals alongside Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunals to expedite the resolution of tax-related disputes.

Committing to weekly reviews of FBR’s ongoing reforms and revenue, the Prime Minister directed the formulation of a strategy to recognize outstanding officers with awards.

The process of setting up Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunals was reported to have commenced, with plans for a transparent written examination to appoint judges to these tribunals.

The meeting, attended by Minister of Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Economy and Energy Bilal Azhar Kayani, Spokesperson of the Federal Government on Legal Affairs Barrister Aqeel Malik, Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Chairman FBR, and other senior government officials, focused on strategic steps to enhance FBR’s efficiency and effectiveness.
