Dushanbe: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday met with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe.
The Prime Minister is currently on a two-day official visit to Tajikistan.
PM Shehbaz was welcomed by Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, Minister for Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma, Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister Farrukh Sharifzada, Dushanbe Mayor Jamshid Tabarzada upon his arrival at Dushanbe airport.
Tajik Ambassador to Pakistan Sharifzoda Yusuf, Pakistani Ambassador to Tajikistan Muhammad Saeed Sarwar and senior government and diplomatic officials were also present on the occasion.
Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the memorial of Tajik national hero Ismail Samani. He also laid a floral wreath at the memorial of Samani.
The Prime Minister then reached the Presidential palace and was welcomed by President Emomali Rahmon. He was presented guard of honour by the contingent of Tajik armed forces.
During his stay in Dushanbe, the Prime Minister will hold meetings with President Emomali Rahmon, Chairman of Majlisi Namoyandagon of Majlisi Oli Mahmadtoir Zoir Zokirzoda, and Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda.
The visit is a part of regular high-level exchanges between Tajikistan and Pakistan. The two sides will discuss various areas of mutual interests, aiming to bolster bilateral cooperation in regional connectivity, trade, people-to-people contacts, energy, and multilateral affairs.
Furthermore, both countries will finalize agreements and MoUs across various sectors of cooperation.
