Pakistan’s PM Invites German Investors to Take Advantage of Investment Opportunities

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited German investors to take advantage of investment opportunities and a conducive environment in the country.

The prime minister was talking to a delegation of German businessmen led by the Chairman Board of Directors of a German NGO, Global Bridges, Hans Elbert, in Islamabad on Tuesday, according to Radio Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz said that Pakistan valued its longstanding ties with Germany and considered it as its major partner in Europe.

Highlighting the vast potential for German investment in Pakistan, he expressed the desire to further expand bilateral trade and investment.

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was committed to increasing cooperation with Germany in industry, minerals, IT, alternative energy, agriculture and other sectors.

He said despite Pakistan’s very low carbon emissions, it is among the nations, most vulnerable to climate change.

Pakistan Wants to Benefit from German Experience

The PM said that Pakistan wanted to benefit from Germany’s experience in alternative energy, agriculture, climate change, and food security.

He added that the skills and capacity of the Pakistani workforce are being enhanced through quality training so they can meet international standards abroad.

The delegation expressed keen interest in investing in Pakistan’s carbon credit market, agriculture, and climate change sectors.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on the occasion, talked in the German language with the delegation which amused and applauded it.

Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan Alfred Grannas was also present at the meeting.
