Pakistan’s PM Invites Shaanxi Enterprises to Invest in Pakistan

BEIJING: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a delegation, on Saturday held a meeting with Zhao Yide, Party Secretary of Shaanxi province in Xi’an city of China.

During the extensive talks, they discussed means of fortifying bilateral cooperation across various sectors such as trade, technology, agriculture, and cultural exchanges.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, with a focus on fostering business-to-business connections and cultural interactions. They also agreed to enhance collaborative efforts at the local and provincial levels for mutual prosperity.

Recognizing Xi’an’s historical significance as a hub of cultural and economic exchange along the Ancient Silk Road, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration between Pakistan and Shaanxi province, particularly in areas of culture, tourism, and education. He highlighted the potential for practical cooperation between Xi’an and sister cities Lahore and Multan.

Regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Prime Minister noted its continued growth and emphasized a focus on high-quality development in its second phase.

Both parties resolved to strengthen economic ties through joint ventures in sectors such as agriculture, bio-pharmaceuticals, automotive manufacturing, mining, chemicals, and textiles.

Secretary Zhao provided insights into the historical significance and rapid economic and social development of Shaanxi province. He highlighted the region’s status as one of China’s fastest-growing areas.

The Prime Minister praised China’s remarkable development and its support to developing countries, viewing it as an inspiration for Pakistan. He extended an invitation to both state-owned and private enterprises from Shaanxi province to leverage Pakistan’s investor-friendly policies and regulatory measures.

Shehbaz Sharif visits Terracotta Warriors Museum

Earlier today, the Pakistan Prime Minister along with his delegation visited the Terracotta Warriors Museum in Xi’an, where he was briefed in detail on the preservation and restoration efforts dedicated to safeguarding historical treasures and fostering tourism.

Exploring various sections of the museum, the Prime Minister marvelled at the magnificence of ancient Chinese heritage and the exquisite craftsmanship on display.

In his remarks, he lauded China’s commitment to preserving its rich history, citing it as a model for emulation by other nations. He emphasized that China’s dedication to safeguarding its historical legacy is commendable.

On this occasion, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s abundance of historical and cultural riches. He pledged to prioritize the restoration of Pakistan’s historical sites, aiming to transform them into vibrant tourist destinations.
