Pakistan’s PM Orders Action Against Elements Causing Unrest in Gilgit Baltistan

GILGIT: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has instructed relevant authorities to identify and take strict action against elements causing unrest in the name of religion in Gilgit Baltistan.

During a meeting focused on discussing development projects and the law and order situation in Gilgit-Baltistan, Premier Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized the state’s responsibility for the security of every citizen.

The Prime Minister was briefed about the progress of projects in information technology, healthcare, education, and various other sectors, along with insights into existing challenges during the meeting.

Ongoing Education Projects in Gilgit Baltistan

Officials informed him about the steps taken to address issues in the education sector across all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, with a particular focus on Diamer and Astore. The premier was informed about the projects of providing meals to students, renovating buildings and rehabilitating deteriorated structures, offering professional training to teachers, and establishing smart schools.

Additionally, the prime minister was briefed on healthcare initiatives in Gilgit-Baltistan, including the launch of a 24-hour helpline dedicated to addressing mental health concerns.

The meeting covered various aspects, including the performance of the environment and tourism sectors, wheat cultivation and subsidies, hydropower potential and production in Gilgit-Baltistan, and budgetary matters.

Prime Minister Kakar directed the Gilgit-Baltistan administration and leadership to evaluate the significance of ongoing development projects, with special attention to those of critical importance.

The meeting was attended by Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, Information and Broadcasting Minister Murtaza Solangi, GB Governor Syed Mehdi Shah, Chief Minister Gulbar Khan, GB Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, and senior officials.
