Pakistan’s PM Orders Improvement of Communication Infrastructure in Gilgit Baltistan

HUNZA: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar directed authorities concerned to prepare a strategy aimed at reconstructing and improving the communication infrastructure in Gilgit Baltistan.

During a meeting with socio-political leaders from Hunza and a visit to the Hunar Kohn project by the Karakorum Area Development Organization (KADO), the Prime Minister assured prompt resolution of electricity-related issues facing the region.

The delegation presented concerns related to electricity demand and supply in Hunza, the allocation of additional seats for Hunza in the GB Assembly to align with the population, and other matters.

Th premier instructed the formulation of a strategy for electricity generation, in coordination with the power sector.

Gilgit-Baltistan’s Tourism Sector

The political leadership of Gilgit-Baltistan briefed the Prime Minister on challenges confronting the tourism sector in the region and requested the establishment of aerial connectivity with various parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Prime Minister Kakar directed the GB Chief Secretary to allocate all available resources for the swift resolution of these issues.

During the visit, the Prime Minister also toured the digital hub at KADO’s Hunar Kohn project and a rehabilitation center for individuals with special needs. He commended KADO’s efforts in benefiting the local population.

Prime Minister Kakar, in interaction with freelance students at the Hunar Kohn project, expressed appreciation for the dedication of Gilgit-Baltistan’s youth to development.

The meeting was attended by former GB Governor Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan, former member of the GB Assembly Rani Attiqa, members of the GB Assembly Col. (Retd) Ubaidullah Baig and Dilshad Bano, along with other socio-political leaders.
