ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday witnessed the international joint naval exercise known as AMAN-2023 exercise, organized by Pakistan Navy in Karachi.
PM Shehbaz was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony held in the Arabian Sea.
Federal Minister for Education Rana Tanveer Hussain, defence secretary, governor of Sindh, and chief minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, also attended the ceremony, Pakistan Navy’s spokesman said in a press release.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and services chiefs were also present.
The prime minister was also given a briefing on the AMAN exercise, who also witnessed the exercise and responded to the gestures of respect paid by the passing ships and aircraft at the time of witnessing the International Fleet Review (IFR) Exercise.
Naval forces of 50 countries participated in joint exercise
Naval forces of over fifty countries participated in the five-day joint naval exercise.
The exercises aimed to develop an effective joint strategy against pirates, terrorists, and smugglers of drugs and arms.
Today was the last day of the AMAN-2023 exercise, which continued for five days with two phases, including land and sea.
The exercises are an excellent initiative by Pakistan Navy that are conducted every two years and have gained worldwide recognition.
The ships and aircraft taking part in the exercise saluted the chief guest.
Participated by over 50 countries, the eighth Maritime Exercise AMAN continued for six days.
