Pakistan’s President Calls for Stronger Defense, Economic Ties with Qatar

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday called for further strengthening relations with Qatar in the fields of defense and economy for the mutual benefit of the two countries. He said that Pakistan and Qatar enjoyed excellent ties, which needed to be translated into mutually rewarding business and economic relationships.

President Alvi expressed these views while talking to the visiting Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces, Lt Gen (Pilot) Salem Hamad Eqail Al-Nabet, who, along with a delegation, called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad. Pakistan’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshall Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and top civil officials also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the delegation, the President said that this year would mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Qatar.

He expressed the hope that cooperation between the two nations would be further enhanced in the years to come.

The President expressed his gratitude to Qatar for providing humanitarian aid during the 2022 floods as well as financial support to Pakistan during difficult times.

President Congratulates Qatar 

President Alvi congratulated Qatar for successfully hosting the FIFA 2022 Football World Cup.

He also congratulated the Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces on the conferment of the award of Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) upon him in recognition of his important role in promoting cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two nations.

Earlier, President Dr Alvi conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) upon Lt Gen (Pilot) Salem Hamad Eqail Al-Nabet at a special ceremony organized at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
