Pakistan’s President Emphasizes Early Prevention of Diseases to Avoid Expensive Treatment

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi said on Tuesday that the adoption of preventive measures against different diseases was a prerequisite to avoid expensive treatment while such habits would also help reduce the burden on the health system in Pakistan.

He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan National Heart Association that called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr to present a report on the activities and accomplishments of the organization, President of Secretariat Press Wing said in a statement.

President Emphasizes Awareness

President Alvi stressed creating awareness among the masses about the importance of preventive measures against heart and non-communicable diseases.

He also highlighted the need for the role of media, mosques, local population, and nongovernment organizations to foster such awareness, besides utilization of different latest platforms to spread awareness messages.

Major General (retd) Masud Ur Rehman Kiani, PANAH President, briefed Alvi about the role of the organization and public awareness drives, including conducting training sessions and holding seminars, walks, and lectures.

He said that they were bringing awareness among the people about healthy activities and lifestyles.

President Alvi commended PANAH for its contributions to the health sector.
