Pakistan’s President for Improved Relations with UK, South Korea, Malawi

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi said on Thursday that Pakistan aims to boost its ties with the United Kingdom, South Korea, and Malawi in the sectors of trade, economy, and culture.

The President made these remarks while talking to the High Commissioner-designates of the UK and Malawi and the Ambassador-designate of South Korea to Pakistan here in Islamabad. The envoys presented their diplomatic credentials to President Alvi and separately called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

While talking to UK’s High Commissioner-designate Jane Marriot, the President said that Pakistan attached utmost importance to its longstanding relations with the UK, which were rooted in historical connections and enduring people-to-people contacts.

He said that both nations needed to further expand and promote economic and trade ties for mutual benefit. He also appreciated the Pakistani diaspora’s contributions in the United Kingdom towards its socio-economic prosperity.

President Alvi highlighted the need for strengthening cultural relations and people-to-people linkages. He underlined that both governments were committed to establishing and maintaining a more consolidated and long-term relationship.

He also urged that the international community should prevent and discourage the incidents of Islamophobia in the world.

President Talks About Pak-South Korea Relations

Speaking to the Ambassador-designate of South Korea, Park Ki Jun, the President said that Islamabad highly valued its multidimensional ties with Seoul, encompassing political, scientific, cultural, economic, and people-to-people contacts.

He said that Pakistan and South Korea had tremendous potential to expand bilateral trade to further consolidate economic ties. Pakistan was open to investment and business and would welcome South Korean investment in all fields of its economy.

President Alvi said that Pakistan offered some of the most beautiful mountaineering and religious Buddhist sites and would welcome South Korean tourists to come and explore these locations.

Speaking to the High Commissioner-designate of Malawi, Younos Abdul Karim, President Alvi expressed Islamabad’s deep appreciation for its historical and brotherly relations with Malawi, which were marked by mutual interests, values, and goals.

He emphasized the need for consolidating political, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations.

He also congratulated the diplomats on their appointments and expressed hope that they would play their role to further consolidate bilateral cooperation with Pakistan.
