ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has chaired a meeting at the Chief Minister House to review the law and order situation in Sindh, particularly the issues of kidnapping and street crimes in the port city of Karachi.
The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, and security personnel. During the meeting, the President assessed the law and order situation and discussed various security aspects such as operations against criminals in rural areas and overall crime trends.
The President instructed the Sindh government to take stern action against individuals involved in kidnapping in the province.
He has urged the Sindh Chief Minister to ensure that police officers are held accountable for their performance by providing them with appropriate terms of service.
Zardari said that those failing to meet expectations should face transfers. Additionally, he expressed a zero-tolerance stance on land grabbing, stressing that any illegal occupation of land will not be tolerated.
Furthermore, President Zardari instructed the Chief Minister to bolster security measures for Chinese nationals. He pledged full support from the federal government, including the provision of necessary resources and weaponry.
To expedite the process, the President directed the Federal Interior Minister to facilitate the procurement of weapons and other essential resources for Sindh.
During the meeting, Senior Provincial Minister for Excise and Narcotics Sharjeel Memon briefed the President on the ongoing operations of his ministry.
Federal Minister and MQM Chief Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui praised President Zardari for convening the meeting to address the law and order situation in Sindh. Siddiqui highlighted the importance of holding such discussions in Karachi to foster public confidence.
