Pakistan’s President, PM Condemn Terror Attack on Bannu Cantonment

ISLAMABAD: Political leaders across Pakistan have strongly condemned Monday’s terrorist attack on a military cantonment in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

In their condemnation messages, the political leadership lauded the swift and courageous response of security forces that successfully thwarted the assault.

President Asif Ali Zardari commended the security forces for their timely action and paid tribute to them for preventing significant loss to the nation. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorist elements.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the terrorist attack and honored the martyred personnel of the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps (FC). He extended condolences to the families of the soldiers, emphasizing their sacrifices in the ongoing battle against terrorism.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi echoed similar sentiments, praising the bravery of the security personnel who thwarted the terrorists’ plans. He emphasized the importance of national unity in overcoming terrorism and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Privatization and Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan also condemned the attack.

Earlier today, The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media affairs wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement that ten terrorists were killed, and eight soldiers were martyred in a failed terrorist attack on a military cantonment Bannu Cantonment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the early hours of Monday.

Security forces successfully thwarted the attempt to breach the cantonment, forcing the terrorists to detonate an explosives-laden vehicle at the perimeter wall.
