Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister Felicitate China on 75th Anniversary

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have extended heartfelt felicitations to the leadership and people of China on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

They were addressing at a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, at a local hotel on Thursday.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed Pakistan’s commitment to work together with China for shared prosperity and the promotion of peace and stability in the world.

Highlighting the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the President said that the high-quality development of CPEC would help unlock greater benefits for our people, besides enhancing connectivity and prosperity of the region.

While extending warmest felicitations to Chinese brothers and sisters on the auspicious occasion, the President stated that the first of October marked the rebirth of a strong, united China, achieved through the heroic struggles of the Chinese people under the visionary leadership of the Communist Party.

The President speaking on the occasion, reflected on the invaluable contributions made by successive generations in transforming the Pakistan-China ties into an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. He further added that China was an iron-clad brother of Pakistan and the entire nation was proud of the enduring friendship as both countries stood by each other during testing times.

The President hoped that China was poised to achieve significant milestones in the coming decades, which would not only bolster its development but also reshape the global landscape in politics, economics, and culture in positive ways.

In his address, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said it is a great day and a great event today that we are jointly celebrating the 75th anniversary of our great friend China’s independence.

He recalled his visit to China in June this year, saying that he was deeply touched by the warmth and friendly welcome extended to him from Chinese friends. He added the people of Pakistan and China are in an unshakable and unbreakable relationship. He said this friendship is higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the deepest ocean.

Expressing gratitude to the Chinese leadership for supporting Pakistan in difficult times, the Prime Minister said that without the support of China, it would not have been possible at all to meet IMF conditionality.

The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s complete support for the Chinese stance on Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other global issues. He said Pakistan is clear that it will support the Chinese position without a second thought for all time to come.

The Prime Minister said the second phase of CPEC, has already begun which will be very helpful in transforming the economy of Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan looks forward to strengthening its collaboration with China in areas of mutual interest. The Prime Minister said we look forward to the visit of the Chinese Premier to Pakistan next month.
