Pakistan’s President Proposes Bulleh Shah University to Honour Sufi Poet’s Legacy

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the importance of adhering to the teachings of Baba Bulleh Shah to foster love, peace, dialogue, understanding, and respect among all communities.

In a message delivered during the 267th Urs of Baba Bulleh Shah in Qasur, President Zardari highlighted the profound impact of the Sufi poet on Pakistan’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

He said that Bulleh Shah’s poetry, filled with metaphor and wisdom, continues to inspire generations by encouraging the pursuit of truth and understanding beyond societal divisions.

To honor Baba Bulleh Shah’s legacy, the President proposed the creation of the Bulleh Shah International Peace University in Qasur. He has recommended this initiative to the Prime Minister, aiming to fulfill the long-standing wish of the people of Qasur.

President Zardari stated that the establishment of this university would significantly contribute to preserving and promoting Bulleh Shah’s teachings, which emphasize love, peace, and humanity while transcending religious, sectarian, caste, and social boundaries.

He called upon all Pakistanis to embody the values championed by Baba Bulleh Shah, particularly the promotion of dialogue, understanding, and respect for diverse communities. The President underlined the need for unity in diversity, advocating for harmony and empathy in a world often fraught with discord.

President Zardari urged everyone to integrate the teachings of Baba Bulleh Shah into their daily lives, reinforcing his message of peace and unity.
