ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi has said that ending the HIV epidemic requires collective efforts at the community level, innovative strategies, and an unwavering commitment to reaching marginalized populations with improved health services.
On his message of World AIDS Day being, Arif Alvi emphasized the theme of “Let communities lead” in the global effort to end AIDS.
Renewing their dedication to fortifying the National HIV response, the President champions innovative data-driven solutions and commits to eliminating the stigma and discrimination surrounding the disease. This pledge extends to strengthening healthcare systems, formulating evidence-based policies, and executing plans aimed at reducing new infection rates.
Dr. Arif Alvi said that World AIDS Day highlights the fundamental responsibility to ensure universal access to HIV prevention, testing, and treatment services. In Pakistan, significant strides have been made to provide health security through comprehensive health, nutrition, and support service packages within national social security programs.
With determination and capability, the President aimed to enhance the quality of life for those affected by this preventable yet treatable disease. A strong commitment is reiterated to eradicating stigma and discrimination associated with AIDS in Pakistan.
The President urged all stakeholders, including the media, influencers, and community leaders, to actively raise awareness about HIV and prevent its spread. Urging intensified efforts in HIV transmission prevention, Arif Alvi emphasized the need to establish robust surveillance systems, reduce associated stigma, train healthcare staff, and fortify the institutional framework.
