Pakistan’s Rescue Teams Bring Relief to Quake-hit People in Turkiye

ISLAMABAD: As rescue teams in Turkiye continue to battle against time with the slogan “don’t lose hope,” relatives of quake survivors celebrate as their loved ones are rescued from collapsed houses and buildings.

Many nations, including Pakistan are taking part in the relief operation to provide relief and aid to the residents of Adiyaman, Turkiye that jolted by Monday’s earthquake.

Reports said that the devastating quake hit Turkiye on Monday, resulting in the death of more than 18,300.

The Pakistan Rescue team of 52 staff members landed in Turkiye on Tuesday, as did two military teams with a total of 33 personnel along with specially-trained sniffer dogs and rescue equipment. So far, Pakistan rescue teams have saved five survivors from under the wreckage of buildings in Adiyaman.

Pakistani rescue teams saved residence

An official of Pakistan said that Pakistani soldiers brought happiness to their relatives when they saved alive two stuck residents in the quake-hit areas, while personnel of Pakistan Rescue 1122 also helped save three people, pulling them out of the wreckage.

The South Asian country has flown three C130 military planes to Adana,  Turkiye, while two Pakistan Airlines flights carrying the rescue teams also landed in Istanbul. Similarly, another C130 flight is likely to land on Friday carrying tents, blankets, and medical supplies.

According to officials, Pakistan has also sent aid package to assist quake hit people in Syria.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Friday also sent more relief consignments for the quake victims of Türkiye. NDMA stated the consignment included family-size 250 winterized tents sent to Turkiye by PIA Boeing 777 from Islamabad Airport.
