Pakistan’s Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Meeting Today for Ramadan Moon Sighting

ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan will convene on Monday (Today) for the holy month of Ramadan moon sighting at the office of Administrator Auqaf in Peshawar, under the chairmanship of Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad.

A meeting is scheduled to take place with the participation of members from both the Central and Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees, which will include Director General (DG) Syed Mushahid Hussain Khalid from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Dr. Sardar Sarfaraz from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Zainul Abedin from the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ghulam Murtaza from the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission.

Ramadan moon is sighted in Arab countries and today is 1st of Ramadan in several Gulf Arab nations, including Egypt, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. They are observing Ramadan from Monday. Additionally, Muslims in North American and UK will also observe the beginning of their fast on Monday.

Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad emphasized that similar meetings of zonal committees across Pakistan would be convened at their respective headquarters in Karachi, Quetta, Lahore, and Islamabad to determine the moon sighting for the month of Ramazan 1445 AH.

Azad urged all citizens to actively participate in sighting the Ramazan moon, expressing optimism for a unified day of fasting throughout the country.
