ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan cricket team’s injured opening batter, Saim Ayub, landed in London from South Africa for medical treatment of his fractured foot, local media reported on Wednesday.
According to media reports, the first secretary of the Pakistan High Commission in London, Fahad Saleem, received Saim Ayub at the airport.
Renowned surgeons
Renowned surgeons will treat cricketer Saim Ayub, and the Pakistan High Commissioner in London will supervise his treatment, according to media reports.
The left-handed batter sustained a right ankle fracture while fielding on Friday, the first day of the 2nd test match.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi took the decision to send Saim Ayub to London for immediate treatment, the PCB said. In a press release, the PCB said that the decision was made after consulting the doctors.
PCB Chairman Naqvi said that Saim Ayub will be checked up by the sports ortho specialist doctors in England as an immediate appointment has been made by the PCB.
Stylish batsman
The PCB chairman said that Saim Ayub is a brilliant stylish batsman and an asset of Pakistan cricket.
“Saim’s treatment will be done in the best hospital in the world and in this regard all resources will be used for his treatment. We hope that the left-handed batter will make a full recovery before the ICC Champions Trophy.”
The medical team is looking into the entire case and Dr Mumraiz has shared Saim’s medical reports with specialists in England, he further said.
