ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Senate on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution condemning Israel’s repeated violations of sovereignty and its ongoing war crimes in Palestine and other parts of the Middle East.

Israeli military operations in Lebanon, intensified strikes in Syria and the raging violence in Gaza and the occupied West Bank point to the dangerous violation of sovereignty and war crimes in the Middle East.

The resolution called for strict accountability of Israel’s actions and demanded justice for the victims of its brutal aggression.

Senator Sherry Rehman, while presenting the resolution, strongly criticized Israel for taking advantage of the political vacuum in Syria to launch attacks.

“The escalation of war in the Middle East threatens to destabilize the entire region,” she warned, adding that this growing instability requires immediate global attention.

The resolution denounces Israel’s attempt to abolish the mandate of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which has been instrumental in providing healthcare, education, and humanitarian aid in the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, and Syria.

Senator Rehman underscored the importance of UNRWA’s role in supporting vulnerable communities, calling Israel’s legislative moves to dismantle the agency an affront to humanitarian principles and international law.

The Pakistani senator presented grim statistics on the extent of human suffering caused by Israel’s aggression. She revealed that 44,612 Palestinians, including women and children, have been martyred as a result of Israeli military brutality.

More than 105,834 Palestinians have been injured, many of whom face life-long disabilities, she said. The senator said that over 180 journalists have been killed during Israeli bombardment in Gaza, reflecting a clear violation of press freedom and protection of journalists.

The devastation in Gaza’s infrastructure has been catastrophic, with hospitals, schools, and residential areas reduced to rubble.

Senator Rehman called this a “deliberate assault on civilian infrastructure, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis faced by the people of Gaza”

“The world cannot remain silent in the face of such barbarity,” declared Senator Sherry Rehman, urging the international community to hold Israel accountable for its war crimes.

“This House demands that Israel be severely punished for its brutal actions,” she said, emphasizing that the Senate stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The resolution also called for an end to the impunity enjoyed by Israeli forces and demanded that justice be served.

Senator Rehman reiterated that the Palestinian issue must be resolved under United Nations (UN) resolutions, ensuring a just and lasting solution.

Pakistan’s Senate urged international organizations and human rights bodies to take immediate action to end human rights violations in Gaza and other occupied areas.

“This is a moment for the world to act decisively,” Senator Sherry Rehman stressed, adding that Israel must be held accountable under international law for its crimes against innocent civilians.

The resolution serves as a strong message of support for the Palestinian cause and a call to action for the international community to protect human rights and ensure accountability for Israel’s grave violations of international law.
