LAHORE: The newly-appointed captain of the Pakistan white-ball cricket team Mohammad Rizwan has said that winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka are his goals as captain.

In an interview with PCB Digital on Monday, Rizwan said the Pakistan team have been losing in the semi-finals and finals in the key ICC tournaments.

Rizwan said preparing a future captain and a backup wicket-keeper were also his other objectives as captain. “I will leave behind a legacy in which Pakistan cricket will have a group of good players after him,” he responded.

Rizwan further added that a good captain has to keep the team united, adding that the unity in the team is not the responsibility of one individual.

“I wish to take Pakistan cricket to new heights with the right combination of the young and senior cricketers in the team,” the captain said.

Rizwan said it is an honour to lead a team of immensely talented individuals. ‘I have led U-19 and domestic outfits in the past but I was never desirous of the captaincy of the national side,’ Rizwan said.

The wicket-keeper batsman said he will try his level best to perform his duty with honesty and hard work.

On the upcoming Australia series, Mohammad Rizwan said ‘We will defeat Australians on their soil if work on the mistakes we made during the last series.’
