ISLAMABAD: Pakistan earned 8,283,261 million dollars from exports of textile products during the first six month of the current financial year (2023-24), the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported on Friday.
The exports of the product however registered a decline of 4.97% during July-December when compared to the exports of 8,716,437 million dollars during July-December last year.
The textile products that witnessed positive growth in trade included raw cotton, the exports of which grew by 374.66%, from 11.253 million dollars last year to 53.412 million dollars this year.
Similarly, the exports of cotton yarn surged by 54.25 dollars, from 381,545 million dollars last year to 588,529 1 million dollars this year and towels by 1.72%, from 491.696 million dollars to 500.133 million dollars.
The textile commodities that registered negative growth include cotton cloth, the exports of which dropped by 13.10%, from 1,066.360 million dollars to 926.677 million dollars; cotton carded or combed by 27.33%, from 0.809 million dollars to 0.588 million dollars; yarn other than cotton yarn by 13.85%, from 22.708 million dollars to 19.562 million dollars, and knitwear by 10.65%, from 2,464.971 million dollars to 2,202.529 million dollars.
Pakistan’s bed wear exports
Likewise, the exports of bed wear dropped by 3.55% from 1,427.730 million dollars to 1,377.109 million dollars, tents, canvas and tarpaulin by 1.45%, from 61.838 million dollars to 60.941 million dollars, ready-made garments by 8.93%, from 1,832.835 6 million dollars to 1,669.253 million dollars.
The exports of art, silk and synthetic textile also dropped by 15.29 dollars by declining from 209.225 million dollars to 177.237 million dollars, madeup articles by 6.81%, from 378.660 million dollars to 352.864 million dollars whereas the exports of all other textile materials also dropped by 3.37%, from 366.807 million dollars to 345.428 million dollars.
