Pakistan’s Want to Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Indonesia: President Alvi

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President, Dr. Arif Alvi, has underscored the importance of strengthening trade, investment, cultural, and political ties with Indonesia to enhance the existing close relationship between the two nations.

He emphasized that Pakistan highly values its strong and fraternal relations with Indonesia, which are characterized by shared religious and cultural bonds as well as alignment on various issues. President Alvi shared these views during a meeting with the departing Ambassador of Indonesia, Adam Mulawarman Tugio, at Aiwan-e-Sadr today.

In his discussion with the outgoing envoy, the President emphasized the significance of expanding trade, investment, and economic collaboration as a cornerstone of the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia. 

He expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to further deepen cooperation in areas such as commerce, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. President Alvi encouraged Indonesian business leaders to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan and leverage the country’s investor-friendly policies. He also stressed the need for increased political and cultural interactions to bolster the fraternal ties between Pakistan and Indonesia.

Adam Mulawarman Tugio, the outgoing Indonesian Ambassador, emphasized the need for diversifying trade and investment cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia to further enhance bilateral relations. He informed that there were plans to establish direct flights between the two nations, which would bring them even closer. Additionally, he highlighted that Pakistani students have been among the major beneficiaries of academic scholarships in Indonesia.

The President expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Tugio for his valuable support and cooperation during his tenure and expressed optimism that the positive momentum in bilateral relations would continue. He also extended his best wishes to the Ambassador for his future endeavors.
