GAZA: The war in Gaza has reached another devastating milestone as senior Palestinian journalists Mohammed Baalousha and Mohammed Jabr Al-Qreinawi were killed in recent Israeli airstrikes.

The strikes also killed multiple children, marking yet another tragic episode in the Gaza’s ongoing war.

Israel is attacking homes and schools across the Gaza Strip, killing and injuring several people just one day after dozens were killed in a strike on Nuseirat camp.

The number of journalists killed by Israel in Gaza since October 7 last year has risen to 195, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office.

The office condemned, the targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli forces and called on all on the global community to denounce these systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media workers in the Gaza Strip.

“We hold the Israeli occupation, the US administration, and the countries complicit in this crime of genocide, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for committing this heinous, brutal crime,” the media office said.

Journalist Baalousha and Al-Qreinawi were known for their coverage of the Gaza conflict, shedding light on the harsh realities faced by civilians. Their deaths highlight the increasing risks journalists face in war areas, as they strive hard to document and report the truth amidst escalating violence.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has launched a relentless bombardment campaign in Gaza killing at least 44,930 people, mostly women and children, according to figures from the territory’s health ministry that the United Nations considers reliable.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army orders Palestinians to evacuate two residential areas in southern Gaza, including locations previously designated as “safe”, in preparation for a military attack.

“To all residents of the Gaza Strip located in blocks 2270, 2260, 131, 2352, 2353 and 2354 (in al-Qarara and Wadi al-Salqa), move immediately westward to the humanitarian zone,” said army spokesperson Avichay Adraee.

The Israeli army has warned Palestinians on several occasions to evacuate areas in Gaza to locations it claims are “humanitarian”, only to later commit “massacres” by bombing tents sheltering displaced people.

The international community has expressed concerns about the mounting civilian casualties. Calls for a ceasefire and renewed diplomatic efforts to address the conflict have intensified. However, the situation on the ground remains dire, with no immediate resolution in sight.

Thousands of Israelis on Saturday staged demonstration for a deal to release the remaining hostages still held in Gaza after more than 14 months of Tel Aviv’s war in the Palestinian territory.

“We all can agree that we have failed until now and that we can reach an agreement now,” Lior Ashkenazi, a prominent Israeli actor, told a crowd gathered in Tel Aviv.
