Palestinian Prime Minister Calls for International Intervention to End Palestinian -Israeli Conflict

RAMALLAH: Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh on Thursday called for international intervention to immediately end the decades-long conflict in the region.

In an interview with Reuters, he said that the United States had so far failed to utilize its influence effectively over the matter. He said that they need end to the Palestinian- Israeli conflict and the materialization and execution of a two-state solution.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had said several times that the US sees a two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state, as the only viable solution of the conflict.

Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said that for them the issue is give them a political horizon. He added that the US had so far failed to apply the essential pressure on Israel to honor its peace commitments.

He said that the Americans when they come here, they don’t have anything to offer and when they do not have anything to offer, they start talking regarding revitalization of the Palestinian Authority (PA).

His remarks come as Israel has bombarded Gaza from the air and land, imposed a siege and mounted a ground attack since October 7. Gaza Health Ministry said that more than 18,787 innocent Palestinian civilians mostly women and children have been killed and over 50,897 wounded in the Israeli attack.

Israel also admitted its worst combat losses in more than a month in the war in the Gaza Strip, and confronted growing diplomatic isolation as civilian demises mounted and a humanitarian disaster worsened in the Palestinian territory.
