MUNICH, Germany: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has said that the creation of a Palestinian state is the “only path” to security and stability in the Middle East.

Prince Faisal was speaking at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday. He said Israel’s security and stability also depended on the creation of a Palestinian state.

“We have made it clear to the Americans and others that, from our perspective, the first priority must be to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to find a way to end the fighting in Gaza.”

He said the kingdom was fully focused on securing a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

“We are focused on the ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israel from Gaza, and we are focused on humanitarian access for the people of Gaza,” Prince Faisal said.

Saudi Arabia has repeatedly stated that it will not open diplomatic relations with Israel unless an independent Palestinian state is recognized.

Prince Faisal also said that Israeli forces’ provocative actions inflame feelings in Arab and Islamic countries, especially with the Gaza death toll approaching 30,000. He added that their actions can serve the ideologies of terrorism and extremism around the world.
