TENNESSEE, US: American social network Parler has announced to call off its planned sale to Kanye West amid the consistent “anti-semitic comments” by the rapper-businessman also known as ye.

The network in a tweet confirmed ending the deal with the rapper, saying that the company has mutually agreed with ‘ye’ to terminate the intent of sale of Parler. It said the decision was made mid-November and is in the interest of both parties. Parler had announced a deal for West to buy the platform in mid-October only a week after his Twitter and Instagram accounts were blocked after he made “anti-semitic posts”.

In what was probably his most provocative outburst yet, the rapper on Thursday declared his “love” of Nazis and admired Adolf Hitler during a live stream with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

Previously, ‘ye’ was also banned from posting on Instagram for 24 hours after violating the social media network’s harassment policy amid his harsh divorce from reality star Kim Kardashian.

Parler: a safe haven for conservatives

Launched in 2018, Parler has remained popular with conservatives and became the favourite online network of the supporters of former Us President Donald Trump as well as far-right users who complained of facing censorship on mainstream social media platforms.

The social networking service was last year temporarily removed from Apple and Google app stores for failing to contain calls for violence following the US capitol attack. However, it was later allowed back in both stores, apparently after it improved its content moderation systems. — APP/AFP
