QUETTA: A parliamentary panel on Friday selected Ali Mardan Domki as the caretaker chief minister of Balochistan.
After days of debate and lengthy negotiations between the ruling party and the opposition, the Balochistan parliamentary committee reportedly picked the caretaker chief minister to lead the transition period. Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar, the governor of Balochistan, has also approved a summary in this regard.
Outgoing Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Zamrak Achakzai, and Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran represented the government on the six-member parliamentary committee, while Abdul Wahid Siddiqui, Younus Zehri, and Ahmed Nawaz represented the opposition.
Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and the opposition leader Malik Sikandar held lengthy discussions; however, a decision on the appointment could not be made. Then, the matter brought to the parliamentary committee.

Who is Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki?
Mir Ali Mardan Khan, born on October 13, 1972, hails from the Balochistan region of Lahri. He is Mir Hazor Bakhsh Domki’s son, a former senator who served as senator from 1975 to 1977.
Before serving as Tehsil Nazim Lahri and District Nazim Sabi, Ali Mardan Domki earned his master’s degree in sociology from Allama Iqbal University (AIOU) in Islamabad. Dostin Domki, his brother, served as a Minister of State and member of the Balochistan Assembly.
