Passenger Bus Catches Fire on Pakistan’s Motorway

ISLAMABAD: A passenger bus carrying at least 49 passengers caught fire on motorway (M3) near Pir Mahal Interchange near district Toba Tek Singh in Punjab. 

Motorway police did not confirm what led to the fire.

The M-3 motorway is parallel to the M-4 motorway and connects the eastern route from Lahore to Abdul Hakeem in Punjab.

The National Highways and Motorway police reached the spot quickly and evacuated the bus passengers, said a spokesperson. All passengers onboard the bus remained unhurt, the spokesperson said 

National Highways and Motorway Police Inspector General Khalid Mahmood hailed the motorway police personnel for their quick response to the incident. 

After the fire incident, long queues of vehicles were formed on M3 Motorway. (APP/AFP)
