LAHORE: The Board of Governors (BoG) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) approved a budget of Rs. 12.8 billion for the renovation of cricket stadiums in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, to be hosted in Pakistan.
Chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the 72nd meeting at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Gaddafi Stadium also focused on enhancing domestic and women’s cricket. The annual budget for women’s cricket was increased from Rs. 70 million to Rs. 240 million, and Rs. 450 million was allocated for promoting domestic cricket across the country.
Preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 were also discussed, with emphasis on meeting international standards in stadium upgradations. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stressed the importance of completing the upgrades at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, National Bank Cricket Stadium Karachi, and Pindi Stadium Rawalpindi in time for the tournament.
The meeting highlighted initiatives to strengthen domestic cricket and reviewed proposals for its improvement. Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer and Chief Financial Officer Javed Murtaza briefed the BoG on the budget details.
BoG members including Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhter Zaman, Sajjad Ali Khokhar, Zafarullah, Tanvir Ahmed, Tariq Sarwar, Dr. Anwar Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Ismail Qureshi, Meraj Mehmood, Usama Azhar, and PCB’s Director Domestic Cricket Abdullah Khurram Niazi were present at the meeting.
