KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday banned South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for breaching the contract.

He has been banned for a period of one year after he withdrew from the tournament in violation of his agreement.

Bosch, 30, was picked by Peshawar Zalmi in January’s PSL player auction however he later opted to play in another league instead.

The PCB also imposed a financial penalty on the player, though the exact amount was not disclosed. According to reports, the details remain confidential due to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) signed between the board and the cricketer.

In an official statement released by the PCB, Bosch issued an apology, stating that he takes “full responsibility” for his actions.

“I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the HBL Pakistan Super League and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the wider cricket community,” Bosch said.

The PCB said Bosch would not be eligible for next year’s PSL.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL), the country’s flagship Twenty20 tournament, has gained significant prominence in recent years, drawing top international talent.

Bosch, who has featured in multiple T20 leagues around the world, expressed hope that he would have the opportunity to return to the PSL in the future.

“This has been a hard lesson, but I am committed to learning from this experience,” he said.

The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League starts in Rawalpindi on Friday with Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars in the opening match.
