PCB Rejects Reports Claiming Players Suffering from Viral Infection

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday rejected media reports that claimed several Pakistani players have contracted viral infection.

A PCB spokesperson said after reports triggered speculations that, thankfully, there is no viral infection or disease.

The national team also changed their training sessions multiple times, causing these speculations.

However, the PCB spokesperson said that some players got a fever in the past few days, and most of them have fully recovered from it.

He added that those players who are in the stage of recovery remain under the medical panel’s observation.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s also rescheduled a training session after cancelling it earlier today.

The team will have a 2-hour training session at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium today from 6 to 8 p.m. in Bengaluru.

Players Contract Fever

Earlier, some media outlets reported that Pakistan’s opening batsman Abdullah Shafique contracted fever ahead of the match against Australia on 20 October.

Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and leg-spinner Usama Mir were also reported to be suffering from fever, but they have recovered now.

Reports claimed that players underwent medical tests as per protocol and were examined for COVID-19 and dengue fever.
