PDMA Punjab Issues Rain Alert

LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a rain alert for several districts, including Lahore. From September 26 to October 1, heavy winds and thunderstorms are expected across most of Punjab.

Areas forecasted to receive rain include Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, and Hafizabad. Furthermore, from September 27, strong winds and rain are anticipated in Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, and Bhakkar.

Director General (DG) of PDMA, Irfan Ali Kathia, has instructed deputy commissioners across the province to remain vigilant. He emphasized that relevant departments should be prepared to address the emergency situation. All district emergency operation centers and the provincial control room have been put on alert, with continuous monitoring taking place 24/7.

The DG advised residents to avoid dilapidated buildings and to take extra precautions with children, ensuring they stay away from standing water in low-lying areas. Citizens can reach out for assistance by calling PDMA’s helpline at 1129.
