PDMA Urges Precautionary Measures Amid Predicted Rain Spell in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

ISLAMABAD: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) spokesperson in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Taimur Ali, has issued a statement urging district administrations to advise tourists and locals in sensitive highlands to remain vigilant regarding weather conditions and take necessary precautions. Speaking to a private news channel, Ali reiterated the authority’s alert for an upcoming spell of rains in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and emphasized the importance of preventive measures to avert any potential fatal incidents.

He further advised the public to safeguard themselves against viral diseases that often emerge during such weather conditions. “We have taken all possible measures to mitigate the impact of the disaster, considering the challenging weather system,” he stated. Ali also highlighted ongoing efforts to reopen roads affected by snowfall and landslides in the province’s hilly regions, mentioning the successful rescue of six tourists stranded for hours in Malam Jabba, located in the Swat region.

Furthermore, Ali disclosed that the PDMA is actively coordinating with various departments to address emergency situations promptly and facilitate aid to affected individuals. According to the Meteorological Office, the prevailing westerly weather system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to persist for another two days.
