PDP President Stages Sit-in Against Arrest of Party Polling Agents, Workers

SRINAGAR: President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti-led a demonstration in the Islamabad district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) protesting the detention of her party members and polling agents by the authorities ahead of the sixth phase of Indian parliamentary elections in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the sit-in protest took place outside the Bijbehara police station, where PDP supporters voiced their discontent against the local administration and demanded the immediate release of their detained colleagues.

The demonstrators also obstructed the Srinagar-Jammu highway in the Bijbehara area.

As the protest gained momentum, Indian police used batons to disperse the crowd, resulting in injuries to several protesters.
