JEDDAH: Kyiv has suggested its 10-point peace formula at talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, Arab News reported.

A source in Ukrainian delegation told the media the formula was “supported by several nations” at summit in Jeddah. Senior officials  from more than 40 nations including China, and the US met in Jeddah for talks that Ukraine and its partners hope will lead to a deal on key principles for a peaceful settlement to war in Ukraine.

The meeting was part of a diplomatic effort by Ukraine to build support beyond its Western allies by reaching out to Global South nations to help reach a settlement to the war, which has hit the international economy.

The Jeddah summit follows dialogue in Copenhagen in June that were devised to be informal and did not produce an official statement, and sources said the 10-point peace formula “received more support than in Copenhagen dialogue.”

The summit highlights Riyadh’s “readiness to exert its good offices to contribute to reaching a settlement to bring peace”, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said Friday.

In May, President Zelensky also attended Arab summit in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

President Zelensky welcomed the wide representation of nations in the Jeddah dialogue, emphasizing the importance of finding settlement to issues like food security, which had affected millions of people worldwide due to increase in food prices triggered by the conflict.
