ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice-President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz said that the people knew who brought inflation and took the country’s economy to the brink of disaster.
During an informal talk with journalists on Sunday, Maryam clarified that she is not interested in becoming the chief minister of the prime minister after the next general elections in the country. She categorically stated, “My focus is not on the slot of chief minister or prime minister.”
Maryam also said that Junaid — her son — also had no intention of joining politics. “Junaid has to take responsibility for his home first,” she said on a lighter note.
Maryam Nawaz says PML-N’s power is performance
Maryam said that her party’s foundation, identity, and power was “performance.” Responding to a question regarding people’s response, Maryam said she was surprised to see the enthusiasm and numbers of the people who welcomed her upon return to the homeland.
She said that the public’s response was beyond her expectation.
“Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s focus is on good governance.” At the same time, Maryam said the coalition government could not turn a blind eye to soaring inflation.
Responding to a question, Maryam said that PML-N would hold public rallies near the upcoming elections. “Nawaz Sharif himself arranged the entire program of the Tanzeemi (organizing) Convention.”
